Long Range Deer Shooting

I titled this as long range deer shooting because I really don’t see how this could be considered hunting. Apparently these two old guys set up benches and shooting rest and wait for deer to come out in nearby pastures. Audio in the video says the shot was 890 yards!!!! The video shows several very good kill shots but you have to question if there were any other wounded animals. Head over to deer hunting info and check out the video.

This is a great example of the Ohio DNR officials at work. The crowning glory of the whole operation was that it all began by an annonymous call to the TIP LINE(turn-in-poachers). The investigation began in September and resulted in over 100 violations being charged against 5 Ohio men. According to the Marion Star the men were not selling the trophies commercially. 2007 Moultrie Game Cameras

The new 2007 Moultrie Game Cameras were on display at this years Shot Show. One draw back of themoultrie game camera previous Moultrie cameras was that they were very slow compared to the rivals. This was due largely in part to the Shure Shot feature. This feature was a software check to verify that the deer was in the field of view before taking the picture. It is my guess that this has been disabled and now Moultrie can advertise 1 second trigger times. In total we have heard about 5 models that will be released sometime around June. Exreme Deer Stands

Deer season is over in most parts of the United States and it is now time to begin planning for the 2007 season. There are still many deer hunting related activities that you can do even though season is over. Many people love to search for shed antlers. This can be a ton of fun and you verify which bucks made it through the year alive. You can also continue a supplemental feeding program and monitoring the area with trail cameras. Another off season project could be maintaining or building deer stands on your property. I have always been a big believer in getting this done way before opening day. For my hunting style I prefer lock on stands and self climbing stands. But for many other people they take building deer stands to the extreme. Take a look at these extreme deer stands.huge deer stand
